The western medicine approach of treatment to improve facial appearance and lifting of the skin are surgical intervention and other invasive methods. There are some contraindicated situations that Dr. Martin considers when undergoing treatment, serious illness, pregnancy, acute URI, high blood pressure, severe migraine, three months after cosmetic facial surgery, or three weeks after laser facial treatments, also when the person have bleeding problems, facial herpes outbreak, facial wounds, rash or irritation.
In the first consultation visit, the Acupuncturists will diagnose the patient's constitution by examining the pulse and tongue in order to create a tailored treatment. The treatment consists of cupping, facial massage and a face mask. This first treatment is 2.5 hours long.
The treatments consist on body and facial acupuncture, tuina (massage), auricular acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, personalized medical herbal masks, medical facial cream, personalized therapeutic diet, and Chinese herbal formulas.
During the follow up visit, the tongue and pulse are again examined. The treatment involves the same acupuncture treatments as in the first visit: cupping, facial massage and facial mask. It is a 1 hour and 30 minute treatment. Herbs are also prescribed according to the patient's body constitution.
This regimen is maintained for 5 weeks, 2 times per week.
Facial Acupuncture: Special minute facial needles are used for the treatment of the face. The needles are inserted under the skin and the muscle layer to lift and tone sagging facial skin, while restoring healthy color, by promoting circulation of blood and reducing wrinkles. Body acupuncture will also be performed in order to obtain a fine balance leading to a complete rejuvenation.
Facial mask: After every acupuncture treatment, a facial massage will be given followed by an individual formulated facial mask made from natural ingredients. This mask will infuse the face with special essences and nourishment which will generate a young, radiant look.
Cupping for wrinkle care: Suction cups are applied to the back of the body to relax and prepare the body for the facial treatment and increase circulation of Blood and Qi, strengthening the immune system.
Herbal formulas will be prescribed according to the patient's condition, imbalance between Yin and Yang, and excess or deficient Qi and Blood.
